About The Position

The Production Engineer is responsible for insuring the accuracy of all product specifications for all print production orders. Examines specifications and validates material, tooling and processes in order to produce products conforming to the customer requirements. Confers with department heads, research and development and production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various elements and determine factors that affect performance. Compiles and analyzes feedback from multiple departments to maintain current & accurate specifications.

Requirements

  • Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Previous flexographic experience in estimating, planning or engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and processes used within the packaging industry.
  • Ability to identify specific materials, adhesives, coatings & inks used in product development.
  • Experience in estimating and quoting for package printing presses and processes.
  • Experience in multiple print processes to produce accurate RFQ's & manufacturing maps for all product types.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment used to establish product performance standards within our industry.
  • Experience with our current MIS system to manage product specifications and production maps.
  • High school diploma / GED / or equivalent required, degree preferred.
  • Individual should possess strong mathematical skills.
  • English language required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains product specifications utilizing the print management system.
  • Maintains detailed technical knowledge of Phenix Label Company's manufacturing capabilities and constantly increases knowledge on the changes and advances of the label and packaging industries.
  • Maintains an understanding of flexographic and digital printing, processes, tools, services and materials to ensure accurate and current product specifications.
  • Analyzes recommendations for changes to product specifications, and documents valid changes as necessary.
  • Verifies appropriate QC checks are identified for each specification based on product type, print process, and any customer requirements.
  • Communicates product changes throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Performs on a cross-functional team with the Estimator to generate RFQ's along with providing backup as necessary.
  • Completes any reasonable request by management necessary to effectively operate the department/company.
  • Suggests improvements to procedures, and acts to improve timeliness or reduce costs.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures.
