About The Position

The Production Engineer for Embedded Systems is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance of embedded hardware and software products. This role ensures that production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
The product line includes traffic controllers, connected vehicle roadside and on-board units, and other ITS devices.
Together with the established engineering team, you will supervise the remote production process to make sure that ITS devices are produced efficiently and meet consistent quality. Regular visits to the production site are required.

Requirements

• 3–6 years in production engineering or embedded systems manufacturing
• Lean Manufacturing
• Ability to interpret and work with product drawings, schematics and technical documentation
• Strong Linux expertise, including designing, tooling and developing scripts for product software configuration
• Skilled in enhancing existing proceseses and implementing future improvements
• Ability to create and maintain deatiled work instructions and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge and process of ECO
• Profiient in performing failure analysis and root cause investigations
• Capability to monitor production trends and identify potential issues early in process
• Work closely with engineering teams to resolve product quality concerns
• Manage and Key Performance Indicators ( KPIs)
• Maintain up-to-date knowlege of relevant industry standards and product specifications
• Knowledge: Engineering foundations (math, computing, engineering fundamentals), quality & process models, standards/compliance (e.g., MUTCD for traffic)
• Skills: Requirements specification/validation; design synthesis/evaluation; CM tools; test planning; data analysis
• Abilities: Problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, clear technical communication across stakeholders
• Systems thinking & requirements analysis (translate customer/operational needs into verifiable requirements, traceability)
• Design & architecture (concept development, trade studies, risk/quality integration)
• Safety & reliability engineering (FMEA, hazard analysis, field safety protocols)
• Configuration management & lifecycle management (baseline control, change control, documentation)
• Stakeholder & supplier management (technical reviews, acceptance criteria, contracts support)

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Knowledge of lean principles:experince wuth 5S methodology is highly desirable
• Ability to lead continous improvement initaives, probem solving activities and process optimization
• Participation in Kaizenevnatsin collaboration with Quality teams
• Hands on experience with hardware system
• Electrical, Hardware or Industrial Hardware experience is acceptable
• Experience with Python and Teraterm

Responsibilities

• Perform failure analysis
• Monitor trends and identify problem areas early in the production process

• Perform first article inspection and testing
• Work with engineering to identify and solve product quality problems
• Work with engineering to ensure products can be produced easily and in a cost-efficient manner
• Manage Key Performance Indicators related to product quality and production
• Stay current with industry product specification
