About The Position

SUMMARY: The Production Engineer I plays a pivotal role in overseeing the manufacturing process to ensure high-quality work is completed safely and efficiently. This role involves liaising with other engineers to develop plans that enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve process reliability. The Production Engineer I will support production operations, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure production drawings and documentation are accurate and up-to-date, adhering to proper revision control and engineering practices. Monitor the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Troubleshoot electromechanical problems and assist production with issues arising from design or supplier errors. Provide technical support to production teams to resolve on-the-floor issues. Assist the purchasing department in sourcing replacement components and working with outside vendors to resolve quality issues. Order samples and expedite components for evaluation, ensuring timely delivery and quality. Participate in the research and compilation of technical information related to component selection and vendor sourcing. Evaluate new components and materials to support product development and production needs. Lead training sessions for production employees on topics such as soldering, crimping, as well as assisting with cross-training initiatives in different production cells. Develop and implement training materials to enhance the skills of production personnel. Support the transition of products from engineering to production, including inventory transfer and review of assembly drawings and manuals. Initiate and facilitate continuous process improvement by analyzing new and existing production procedures. Maximize the concepts of lean manufacturing to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Drive initiatives for continuous process improvement, focusing on enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices in manufacturing. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience with electronic and mechanical design required
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and performing basic electronic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to solder and work with electronic components.
  • Experience with engineering drawings and specifications of electrical/mechanical parts.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software, Epicor or related MRP/ERP systems, and general MS Windows applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
