Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field required.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in both writing and editing, ideally within Christian publishing, ministry, or education.
  • Demonstrated passion for books and the craft of publishing.
  • Proficiency in The Chicago Manual of Style and experience applying house style guides.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop).
  • Knowledge of digital and print production processes, including proofreading, typesetting, and eBook conversion.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of content production workflows, quality assurance, and vendor coordination.
  • Awareness of legal and ethical standards in publishing, including permissions and copyright compliance.
  • Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Alignment with TDGC’s mission, doctrinal statement, and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Production Manager in overseeing the editorial workflow and production schedule from manuscript to final publication.
  • Proofread final drafts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting errors.
  • Prepare manuscripts and layouts for final publication in both print and digital formats.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks before print and digital release.
  • Manage revisions, reprints, and updates to published content.
  • Collaborate closely with design, editorial, and marketing teams to align visual and textual elements.
  • Communicate effectively with printers, freelancers, and production vendors to maintain quality and schedule.
  • Oversee permissions and ensure compliance with copyright and regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed about publishing trends, tools, and best practices in Christian and trade publishing.
  • Evaluate production workflows and suggest improvements for greater efficiency and quality.
  • Contribute to maintaining and refining internal SOPs and style documentation.
  • Pursue professional development through workshops, training, and theological enrichment.
  • Continually refine editorial craft to serve both theological depth and publishing excellence.
  • Support the publisher’s mission and participate in departmental collaboration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
