About The Position
We are looking for a Production Design lead to join the Messenger Design System team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about design systems and is eager to innovate in this space. You will be responsible for building a world-class design system for a product that serves 800 million users. This position places you at the cutting edge of product design, enabling the development of new emergent technologies, including Meta's industry-leading AI. You will collaborate with industry-leading colleagues across design and engineering, providing you with the opportunity to influence user experience at scale across multiple teams. In this role, you will sweat the details and stay up to date with advancements in Figma and design systems. Your primary responsibilities will include working alongside product designers, content designers, and engineers to ensure that design system components are high quality, consistent, cohesive, and readily available to both designers and engineers working on the Messenger product. You will ensure that Messenger Design System (MDS) components meet quality standards and fulfill the needs across our ecosystem from specification to implementation. As a Production Designer, you will take ownership of the Messenger Design System design library and the component distribution processes and tools used to create and deliver assets. You will work with production designers to ensure components are available across platforms, including iOS, Android, and web. Your tasks will involve designing and building components and templates, expanding states and variations, troubleshooting issues with design files, and maintaining well-annotated resource libraries. You will also conduct regular UX quality assurance to identify gaps between specifications and production work, collaborating with engineering and product design to rationalize discrepancies as needed. Additionally, you will deliver high-quality assets for internal and external communication needs, ensuring they accurately represent the product in a positive light. Writing and updating clear documentation on design system component usage will also be part of your responsibilities, as you act as a liaison between product design and engineering to support parity between design and code sides of the design system.
