About The Position

The VAM production day supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring safety, quality, and production efficiency while maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role involves supporting stable operations, driving continuous improvement, and assisting with the execution of daily maintenance activities within the VAM unit. The production day supervisor will play a key role in fostering a culture of safety, operational excellence, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of polymer plant experience, including polymer processing, and Honeywell and/or Yokogawa DCS expertise.
  • Proficient in digital tools such as Go Plant, Voovio, EPAS, and Shift Connector.
  • Strong MOC management and SAP knowledge.
  • Experience operating chemical plant equipment, including distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong understanding of polymer reactions, highly viscous solutions, plant support systems, and azeotropic distillation.
  • Previous supervisory or management leadership training.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, creative thinking, consulting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • A strong ability to multi-task and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Candidates must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Support safety programs, including E-Tracker, Kurasafe, PHA, and ERT.
  • Act as EPAS Coordinator, conducting LOTO and permitting audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Oversee daily operations to achieve quality and yield targets.
  • Support production shifts during upsets and lead incident investigations (IR/AR/WS).
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Provide off-hours support during plant upsets.
  • Coordinate production activities during turnarounds.
  • Lead production support for lean manufacturing initiatives, cost kaizen projects, and capital expenditures (CapEx).
  • Work with maintenance liaisons to schedule and coordinate repairs.
  • Initiate maintenance work orders for preventive or corrective actions.
  • Mentor and support the growth of engineering/technical team members.
  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, safety, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with government regulations affecting chemical plant operations.
  • Lead and participate in monthly supervisor meetings.
  • Communicate action plans and align team objectives with organizational goals.
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop skills and promote growth.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE.
  • Drive continuous operational improvements to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Identify inefficiencies and generate solutions to improve processes.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and promote cost efficiency.
  • Support product management, customer service, R&D, project engineering, and quality teams to ensure smooth operations.
