About the Role Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Production Cost Accountant for our facilities located in Wheatland, PA. Reporting to the Production Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in calculating product costs and analyzing operational variances resulting from manufacturing activity at the Company's local locations. This position requires strong analytical, organizational, and financial skills, and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to accurate product costing, improved financial reporting, and operational decision-making. You will collaborate with plant personnel, auditors, and management teams, ensuring that production data is accurate and that cost reporting supports strategic business decisions. This is an onsite role at our Wheatland, PA facility. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a detail-oriented environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can manage multiple financial analyses while meeting tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university. Knowledge of cost accounting and experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced PC software skills, including Excel; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Able to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented and able to adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per posted schedule is essential.
  • Remain in a stationary position for the majority of the day.
  • Occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • Flexible to perform other duties as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and analyze production data to provide management with detailed cost information not ordinarily supplied by general accounting systems.
  • Verify and correct weekly part cost update reports to ensure manufactured direct costs are accurate and realistic.
  • Perform audits, investigative functions, and calculate overhead to ensure FIFO inventory costs are accurate.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Perform work order analysis on various plant production orders and support product costing functions.
  • Provide estimated cost information for future products to support decision-making.
  • Assist auditors during annual physical inventory counts and provide requested documentation.
  • Support bank and collateral audits by providing accurate information.
  • Contribute to improvements in SAP and reporting systems.
  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
