JOB TITLE: Production Coordinator BUSINESS UNIT: Snacks FUNCTION: Operations REPORTS TO: Production Supervisors GRADE/LEVEL: HP08 GENERAL SUMMARY: The Production Coordinator is a first level leader role and is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of employees. Will work as an area owner and be responsible for continuous improvement, employee onboarding, ongoing employee training, enforcement of company policies, assist employees with issues and define whether the gaps are machine or people/training related. Provides recommendations for production runs. Responsible for maintaining product quality standards as set by the QA department.

Requirements

  • Must be able to comply with the physical demands of constantly lifting and moving stock by hand or with manual equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on a regular basis, and occasionally be able to lift/move more than 100+ lbs.
  • High School Diploma or GED; College degree or working towards a college degree preferred.
  • a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership skills and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the production floor schedule with supervisor and/or production scheduler daily and crew appropriately to estimate run times and inform supervisor of all production issues.
  • Assists in developing One Point Lessons (OPL) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for training purposes.
  • Assists employees with issues that arise during shift and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Communicates policies to team members and acts as liaison between supervisors and team member.
  • If applicable, completes time approvals, researches pay issues, validates punches and works centers as needed.
  • Provides input to and may help conduct team member evaluations in a fair and timely manner.
  • Maintains materials and equipment needed to pack finished goods (i.e. Formers, boxes, etc.).
  • Trains and oversees new employees which includes onboarding and on the job training.
  • Supports, participates and leads Continuous Improvement initiatives including 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain), centerline, CWOW pillar meetings, Daily Direction Meetings and events.
  • Coordinates during shift sanitation functions and performs sanitation assignments/shutdown cleanup duties as scheduled. Have a working knowledge of sanitation procedures including chemical handling.
  • Performs Leader Standard Work to ensure standards, centerlines and key performance metrics are upheld.
  • Prepares end of shift paperwork
  • Audits shift paperwork for completeness and accuracy prior to turning in, (i.e. Weights, Code Dates, film waste, etc.).
  • Maintains and ensures all logs of all daily activities (i.e. holds, run off, down time, changeovers, etc.) are completed and turned in.
  • Ensures employees and shift are set up for success by communicating with all needed employees and departments on a continuous basis and identifying knowledge gaps, process gaps, needed tools, resources, materials and supplies and taking proactive measures to fill the identified gaps.
  • Analyzes Quality and/or Machine data to identify trends, implement corrections, and make suggestions for improvement (i.e. Hertzler data).
  • If applicable, controls site specific processing standards by making machine adjustments (temperature/speed settings, production times, etc.)
  • Checks scales, baggers, and production distribution systems daily to ensure efficient packaging runs.
  • If applicable, leads shift quality checks and makes suggestions for adjustments.
  • Ensures case label printers are in working order and being used on all lines.
  • Ensures product run off is handled and labeled appropriately.
  • Ensures 1st case quality check is completed per guidelines and all information is accurate.
  • Coordinates with QC on product holds to ensure they are documented and processed appropriately
  • Adheres to and enforces appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personnel protection; helps keep work areas clean; stores supplies in designated areas.
  • Keeps work area and isles/exits clear and free from obstructions; removes trash from work area. Follows instruction for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes, and weights of objects. Identifies and reports defective equipment. Reports all job related injuries to supervisor and to Human Resources immediately.
  • Fills in for supervisor as needed.
  • May be required to work mandatory overtime.
  • May perform other duties as required.
