About The Position

Responsible for the safe, damage free and accurate handling and storage of inbound and outbound material. Satisfy Somic America’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America Quality Manual and Quality Policy) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents such as manifests, bill of lading, correspondence and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations (Team Meetings) to other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must have basic understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and tablet/scanner use for AIM.

Responsibilities

Prepares customer shipments for service parts, export and other shipments: staging, strapping, wrapping and labeling.
Verifies pallets staged for shipment.
Fill out all pallet traceability sheets, wrapping and loading summary sheets and BOL.
Contacts trucking company for pick up.
Records any defects or nonconformance’s on the defect tracker log.
Verifies all staged pallets are complete and error free.
Records all quality and staging nonconformances on the Defect Tracker Log.
Coordinates the order of staging with team members.
Loads customer orders and receives returnable packaging.
Load and unload the truck. (Verify pallet quantities are correct)
Sorting of returnable packaging coming back from customers logging all tote and pallet quantities on the Daily Tote/Pallet Tracking log.
While sorting, conduct an inspection to ensure all packaging is in compliance with customer standards.
Checks in inbound raw material, assigns lot numbers in AIM, and prepares for incoming inspection.
Moves inspected raw material to stock.
Sorting out mixed skids of components and applying correct AIM receiving lot numbers.
Coordinates with Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to complete PM activities that ensure supplies are readily available.
Printing of Kanban labels and customs invoices for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 customers.
Operates industrial forklift truck, cart or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Perform daily forklift battery pm and fill out the truck log.
Empties the metal chip dumpsters as required.
Transports machined housings, plated housings, and finished goods to appropriate storage areas.
Responsible for making out the proper paperwork for FedEx, UPS and third party billing.
Ensures Raw Material and Finished Goods FIFO (first in / first out) is maintained.
Utilizes standardized work documents to ensure proper procedures for staging and receiving are being followed.
Responsible for communicating shipment concerns to the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor or PC Manager to assure 100% on-time delivery is maintained.
Responsible for keeping a minimum inventory of packaging required for export and service parts, including but not limited to: plastic bags, wooden skids, VCI sheets, export boxes and service part labels.
Maintain 5’S of Shipping and Receiving area.
Submit suggestions for improvements. (Kaizen)
Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
