About The Position

The Production Control Coordinator is responsible for managing coating schedules and supporting quality assurance activities within the Coating Department. This role ensures the timely flow of optical components through the coating process while verifying product quality through inspection. This position requires close coordination with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams, along with the ability to adjust plans based on real-time production conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred but not mandatory
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a production control, scheduling, or similar role—ideally within a precision manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with microscopes and basic metrology tools; experience with optical inspection is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Effective communication skills and comfort working cross‑functionally with production, engineering, and quality teams.
  • A U.S. Person: Compliant with ITAR, EAR and other laws and regulations as defined: “U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents ("Green Card" holders), persons granted refugee status or asylum status in the United States, or temporary residents granted amnesty.”

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with thin‑film coating processes or optical manufacturing is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize daily and weekly coating schedules based on customer demand, job priority, equipment availability, and staffing.
  • Coordinate workflow between upstream and downstream departments to ensure timely movement of optical components.
  • Monitor job progress throughout the coating process, adjusting schedules as needed to address bottlenecks, equipment downtime, or urgent requests.
  • Communicate schedule updates and production status to supervisors, engineers, and customer service teams.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of optical components before and after coating
  • Evaluate surface quality, defects, cleanliness, and coating integrity using microscopes, interferometers, and related metrology tools
  • Identify nonconforming material and coordinate with quality and engineering for disposition
  • Accurately document inspection results in accordance with established procedures
  • Track throughput, yield, and cycle times to support continuous improvement initiatives.
