About The Position

RPI Print, Inc., a global leader in print-on demand, is currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive Production Control Associate to join our digital printing team. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient scheduling of print jobs, optimizing machine usage, and meeting customer deadlines. It also requires strong computer skills, system aptitude, and hands-on involvement to sequence, release and monitor jobs in real time. This position is highly day to day and deadline driven, requiring quick adjustments and coordination to keep production on track. The ideal candidate will have experience in production scheduling/planning, a strong understanding of digital printing workflows, and hands-on familiarity with HP Indigo and Canon Production Inkjet systems. This role has a primary desk-based function located on the production floor, however, working directly with operators and supervisors is a daily activity. Production control must actively navigate the manufacturing floor to follow up and ensure jobs move efficiently through production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in production scheduling, preferably in a digital printing or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on familiarity with HP Indigo and Canon Production Inkjet print systems preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy, including ERP/MIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with digital printing technologies and processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High attention to detail and strong numerical aptitude.
  • Excellent responsiveness and customer focus.
  • Must be able to work overtime including weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MIS or ERP systems used in print production (e.g., EFI, PrintSmith, Avanti).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma.
  • Understanding of prepress, finishing, and fulfillment processes.
  • Experience in analytical reporting or managing dashboards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily production schedules for digital print jobs, to meet customer demands and company objectives.
  • Coordinate with production teams to prioritize jobs based on deadlines, materials, and machine availability
  • Manages incoming customer files to create even balance on press fleet and appropriate WIP levels for finishing departments to effectively produce and ship final product.
  • Monitor job progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate rush orders, machine downtime, or other changes.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of digital printing equipment and resources, including HP Indigo and Canon Production Inkjet presses.
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of job specifications, timelines, and production data.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling and workflow efficiency.
  • Track and report on production metrics, job status, and schedule adherence.
  • Performs research and analysis to understand the production process, the needs of clients, and the resources and workforce available, inclusive of trends and concerns.
  • Maintains scheduling information daily.
  • Continually update order progress in ERP system and adjust production schedules as needed for on-time deliveries.
  • Work with planning, manufacturing, and purchasing departments in identifying and resolving production scheduling problems.
