About The Position

The Production Buyer/Planner is a cross-functional operations role responsible for transforming bulk cannabis into finished goods through effective planning, procurement, and scheduling. This individual acts as the link between production, inventory, sales, and distribution to ensure timely and compliant availability across all product categories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3–5 years in a planning, buying, or supply chain coordination role.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP or MRP systems.
  • Clear, proactive communicator with strong follow-through.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work across departments and manage competing priorities.
  • Understanding of cannabis workflows, product types, and compliance nuances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a licensed cannabis operation strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production planning for all finished goods, including flower, vapes, and edibles.
  • Translate sales demand and forecasts into actionable production schedules and material plans.
  • Monitor bulk cannabis inventory and coordinate timely movement into packaging workflows.
  • Forecast packaging and raw material needs based on demand plans, yields, and promotions.
  • Create, manage, and track purchase orders for raw materials, ingredients, and packaging.
  • Monitor vendor performance, lead times, and negotiate supply terms as needed.
  • Maintain planning and inventory tools (Excel, ERP, METRC, Canix, Leaf Trade, etc.).
  • Prepare reports and dashboards on material usage, production output, and inventory health.
  • Coordinate weekly production meetings to align teams on output, constraints, and timelines.
  • Support new product launches by ensuring timely procurement and scheduling readiness.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure materials, labels, and packaging meet regulations.
  • Contribute to SOP development and continuous improvement of planning and procurement.
