About The Position

Springfield Leather Co. (SLC ®) is an industry leader in customer service, education, and supplies for leathercraft. We specialize in producing various leather components that crafters can use to create finished goods. While we work with leather, we are not a custom leather goods shop. We are excited to add a Production Assistant to our growing production department. Job Summary: As a Production Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with various physical duties, maintaining safety standards, operating a hydraulic cutting press, cutting leather belt strips, assembling wallet interiors, loading and unloading materials, and providing insights and suggestions for improvement opportunities to the department head. This is a very physically demanding job, requiring you to be on your feet most of the day. While prior production shop experience is a plus, we will provide training to bring you up to speed.

Requirements

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Nice To Haves

Prior production shop experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Assist with various physical duties in the production department.
Maintain safety standards throughout the production process.
Operate machinery such as a hydraulic cutting press and strap cutter.
Assemble wallet interiors and other leather components.
Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling and storage.
