About The Position

The Production Associate is responsible for the production and packaging of tobacco alternative pouches using a variety of lines and mobile equipment while maintaining the highest quality, regulatory and safety standards. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in a manufacturing environment. No travel is expected. This position may be assigned special projects, as determined by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, rags, brushes, grease guns, air hose, water hose, shovel, broom, scraper, hand jack, forklift, tobacco fork, spray bottles, utility knife, hand cart, etc.
  • Ability to move/lift to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to spend the required shift hours (8-12 depending on shift) standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing
  • May require climbing of ladders
  • Solid reading skills, basic math skills and reasoning skills
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations
  • General awareness of the ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements, company Quality Policy and your contributions to the effectiveness of the QMS

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a packing machine (e.g., stacking, bundling, and wrapping product, etc.)
  • Experience operating a filler machine (e.g., ensuring right mix of product, operating production computer, etc.)
  • Experience reading schedules (e.g., products being produced, understanding production requirements, production planning, managing changeovers, etc.)
  • Experience with computers in a manufacturing setting (e.g., electronic settings, line speed, pressures, basic troubleshooting, solving faults/alarms and resetting equipment, etc.)
  • Experience with sanitization (e.g., basic procedures/steps, identifying risks)
  • Experience with minor mechanical repairs (e.g., jams, using tools, making basic adjustments to equipment, etc.)
  • Experience with preventative maintenance (e.g., inspecting and maintaining equipment, detecting and correcting issues before they occur, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to company policies on Safety and Personnel Protective Equipment (which may include safety glasses, face shield, gloves, ear plugs, protective toe footwear, mask, etc.)
  • Perform job duties and maintain required documentation in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Work as part of a team operating various pouch manufacturing production lines
  • Operate manufacturing machinery and equipment in a safe manner in accordance with established company procedures using appropriate personal protective equipment
