Crystal Cabinet Works is seeking a Machine Sander to join their team in Princeton, MN. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating the belt sander to sand flat panel materials to meet quality specifications and production schedules.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a belt sander.
  • Ability to set up and adjust sander settings (height, pressure, computerized settings).
  • Ability to load and unload parts from sander.
  • Ability to inspect parts for quality and deal with defects (re-sanding, puttying, hand sanding).
  • Ability to sand edge tape on box parts and flat panel doors.
  • Ability to create green slips for remade parts.
  • Ability to perform final inspection of cabinet parts.
  • Ability to perform special sanding tasks (e.g., knife blocks, paint removal).
  • Ability to bring product issues and material concerns to a manager.
  • Ability to perform machine maintenance (cleaning machinery, changing sandpaper).
  • Ability to use quality measurement tools such as calipers or depth gauges.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation in the timely completion of daily/weekly assignments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of various wood species and can differentiate between them.
  • Ability to make fundamental mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read measurement devices, i.e. tape measure, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up sander assuring height and pressure settings are correct and adjusts if needed.
  • Prioritizes work by job number, green slip or OCS.
  • Loads & unloads parts form sander and inspects for quality.
  • Deals with defects by re-sanding, puttying and hand sanding.
  • Sands edge tape on box parts and flat panel doors.
  • Creates green slips for parts which must be remade.
  • Adjusts computerized machine settings as needed to enable machine to sand specialty component parts/wood species.
  • Performs final inspection of cabinet parts per job to verify quality of product produced.
  • Performs special sanding, i.e. knife blocks, paint removal, etc.
  • Brings product issues and material concerns to manager to ensure meeting production needs.
  • Ensures optimum machine performance by performing various machine maintenance operations such as cleaning machinery, changing sand paper, checking part thickness or depth of cut with various quality measurement tools such as calipers or depth gauges.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation in the timely completion of daily/weekly assignments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the various wood species and can differentiate between them.
  • Makes fundamental mathematical calculations and reads measurement devices, i.e. tape measure, etc.
  • Fills in other areas as needed.
