About The Position

The Production Associate is responsible for visually inspecting extruded products for consistent appearance and length according to defined standards. The role includes ensuring product consistency and standards, packing finished products into bundles, and maintaining required paperwork. The associate will also set up and operate various fabrication department equipment, assist with production line issues, and perform housekeeping duties as needed.

Requirements

  • 6 months or more Production/Manufacturing experience required.
  • Must be able to read, write and perform basic math skills.
  • Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance.
  • Must be quality and safety conscious, a team player.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to concentrate for sustained periods.
  • Must have good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with reading draft drawings.
  • Familiarity with using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and radius gages.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect the extruded product for appearance and size defects according to specifications.
  • Conduct recurrent tests/inspections of products' functional features.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of product defects.
  • Assemble bundles for packaging.
  • Ensure proper packing patterns, product counts, and package enclosures.
  • Square, band, heat seal and label the packed bundles.
  • Set up and operate Fabrication Department Equipment.
  • Discard unacceptable profiles in Scrap Rack.
  • Identify and assist with jammed products in the production line.
  • Assist with color and product die changes.
  • Perform line shut down tasks.
  • Communicate with previous and following shifts about product quality and status.
  • Complete accurately and legibly all line packaging-related paperwork.
  • Identify product not being routed or cut to spec.
  • Punch time clock before and after shift to record time worked.
  • Observe health and safety practices.
  • Maintain supplies at the workstation.
  • Assist with training of temporaries and new hires.
  • Attend weekly shift meetings and monthly All Hands Forum.
  • Participate in all plant safety programs.
  • Assist with production equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain work zones' cleanliness and safety.
