About The Position

Baking, finishing, slicing, trimming and/or packaging of various bakery/pastry products. Will assist in picking of orders and staging for daily shipping of bakery and pastry items to stores. May assist with large-batch from-scratch production of bakery and pastry menu items. Provides exceptional service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high-volume production bakery highly preferred.
  • Previous food and/or grocery specific industry experience preferred. Experience in a multi-unit, high growth retail or similar environment required.
  • Knowledge of key baking techniques, including, but not limited to preparation of all varieties of bread and baked goods.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of basic supply and logistics principles preferred
  • Friendly and service oriented, with an interest in food and baking.
  • Basic math and computation skills required.
  • Skills to work independently, effectively manage own time and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skills to adapt to the shifting priorities and needs of a retail environment.
  • Skills to exercise good judgment at all times.
  • Self-motivated, with high attention to detail, quality and presentation.
  • Skills to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Daily production of all bakehouse pastry items.
  • Prepares station for pre-shift work, shift turnovers and end of day breakdown.
  • Checks quality, count and condition of all food preparation products. Communicates any issues to management.
  • Stocks and rotates products in dry, refrigeration and/or freezer storage spaces with attention to quality assurance standards and follows first in/first out procedures to assure proper rotation of stock. Labels and dates all food.
  • Accurate recording of production amounts, waste/shrink and time/temperature information on hard copy or computerized data entry as required.
  • Produces bakery items in accordance with company and regulatory agency standards.
  • Slicing, trimming, and finishing various bakery products following program guidelines, SOPs and HAACP procedures.
  • Packaging of bakery items into specific containers as instructed, including; boxes, bags, Cambro food containers, clamshells and other packaging as required.
  • Works in a manner that maintains processes and procedures that effectively control production, packaging, shrink, sanitation and equipment maintenance.
  • Supports scale up production for R&D for bakery and other items as requested.
  • Follows all established systems to maintain consistency and integrity of product.
  • Follows all bakery production standards, food safety systems, certified organic systems, policies and procedures.
  • Adjust priorities and tasks as necessary to achieve daily production goals.
  • Notifies department manager on duty or location leadership of any situations relating to food safety, work safety, productivity, security or any other situation that may have an adverse effect on the product or location.
  • Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with products in department, with willingness to continue learning.
  • Adheres to work and food safety policies set forth by the company and regulatory agencies.
  • Performs janitorial tasks in compliance with sanitation standards established by facility policy and state and local health departments. Contributes to facility cleanliness.
  • Maintains equipment, informs facility/department management of any problems.
  • Reports all safety concerns and work-related injuries to management.
  • Frequent handwashing is required.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
