About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant supports daily laboratory operations by performing a variety of routine tasks to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with safety standards. Key responsibilities include preparing and dispensing biological samples and solutions, assisting with animal necropsy procedures, and supporting the preparation, labeling, and packaging of cell culture media and laboratory products for both internal and external use. The role also involves maintaining laboratory cleanliness, washing and sterilizing equipment, performing basic instrument maintenance, and managing electronic filing of laboratory documentation.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree; or high school graduate with two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in a biological or chemical science field preferred.
• Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office.
• Ability to work in a team laboratory environment with knowledge or familiarity with scientific terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assists with routine laboratory functions including but not limited to: making mobile phase, diluting, labeling and dispensing of biological samples, solution preparation, laboratory upkeep, washing glassware and columns and proper cleaning.
• Assists with the weighing of tissues during animal necropsy procedures.
• Assists with the preparation and packaging of cell culture media and solutions for in-house use and for external customers.
• Assists with labeling and packaging products for final use/sale.
• Autoclaves necessary supplies to ensure sterility.
• Scan paperwork, and electronically file.
• Perform simple instrument maintenance.
