About The Position

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP) Wallingford is a US-based pioneer in the manufacturer of High Purity Metal Strip, Specialty Shaped Wire, Engineered Shaped Components and Thermal Management Materials. With more than 50 years of experience, AMETEK SMP Wallingford has numerous patents in technically advanced metallurgical materials and is a global leader in High Purity Materials via Wrought Powder Metallurgy. AMETEK is seeking a Production and Planning Supervisor who is responsible for directing and coordinating activities of the production and planning in manufacturing products. The role will report to the Operations Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline preferred.
  • Five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to lead, manage, develop, and coach personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to manage on time delivery, reduce late shipments and optimize throughput in the plant.
  • Coordinate material movement with shipping service personnel.
  • Ensure the scheduling of employees in different areas for cross training purposes.
  • Review job card changes with production operators prior to running and coordinate with planning, and quality.
  • Daily review of capacity ledger entries to ensure accurate reporting of production data.
  • Communicate with purchasing to support initiatives regarding plant consumables.
  • Assist with the initial troubleshooting of production equipment issues and involve maintenance as needed.
  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating production of the company's products.
  • Evaluating raw materials and equipment to ensure everything is in place for production.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure raw material deliveries and quality align with plant shipment requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring raw material samples are delivered to the lab and tested prior to production commencing.
