About The Position

Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA's core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June. The Systems Validation (PTD) department is responsible for ensuring that DTNA's commercial vehicle products are safe and function properly. PTD engineers analyze data from a fleet of validation vehicles to test vehicle functionality. Our team develops tools to assist in data acquisition, data management and data analysis. In your internship, you will work with an existing agile team to help develop tools to support the department's validation work. You will have an active voice on the team and will participate in continuous improvement projects to help identify and prioritize how we drive impact for our department. Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
  • Degree focus in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering preferred
  • Ability to break down and collaboratively define ambiguous tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
  • Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python, git, SQL preferred
  • Web application development experience preferred
  • Familiarity with automotive data standards: CAN/LIN/Ethernet (PCAP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support on-board instrumentation and vehicle data acquisition systems
  • Collaborate on developing software tools and data pipelines to support commercial vehicle feature validation
  • Work on an agile team to understand departmental needs and develop impactful solutions
  • Understand the breadth and scope of vehicle software features and the complexity of validating their functionality
  • Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs
