About The Position

We're building tomorrow's fleet today. For nearly 85 years, we've designed, built and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. The largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, we're simultaneously building four classes of ships and have pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface Navy fleet for decades. The Role Plans, develops, and coordinates training programs for DDG, LHA, and LPD class ships. Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree with 6 years experience; Or 14 years of professional experience (4 years or more years as a classroom instructor, Master Training Specialist or similar qualifications) in lieu of a degree.
  • Complete understanding of training principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Full knowledge of industry practices.
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems and perform fairly complex related tasks.
  • Ability to interact frequently with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters.
  • Working knowledge of Auxiliary, Propulsion and Damage Control systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in the instructional design process and prior shipboard experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work within a highly motivated team environment.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in a classroom and shipboard environment.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment.
  • Shipboard experience with electrical, mechanical, and/or Engineering plant operations.
