This product focused position verifies and validates the functionality of Cummins' products across a wide range of customer requirements, across a variety of applications, in various environments. This work plans, tracks, and evaluates results from a wide range of analyses and functional tests to assess product risk and performance. These results are expected to drive quality decisions and proactively resolve product issues before the product reaches the customer. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Investigates product test system and process problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, may include activities in problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members. Applies and supports the improvement of processes such as test system specification, design and validation and tools such as FMEA, 7-step problem solving, and process hazard analysis, required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making. Supports more experienced team members to obtain input and negotiate with lab customers, lab technicians, and component suppliers and delivers test system requirements, processes, and instructions to lab technicians, product functional test engineers and equipment suppliers. Supports more experienced team members to make decisions in the areas of component selection, calibration processes, and operating processes that impact test equipment accuracy, reliability, and operating cost. May involve activities in problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services. Supervised execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes. No direct management of people but could involve limited coordination of work amongst engineers and technicians. Contributes effectively toward team goals and develops proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
