Job Description Peterson Power Systems has the immediate need for a Product Support Sales Representative based at our Hillsboro, OR location. SUMMARY The Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR) is responsible for the sale of marine product support for the following products: engines, generators, marine gears, drives, associated equipment to marine customers as a respected business professional. Requirements

  • Associates Degree from a fully accredited college; and a minimum of three years of directly related sales experience, preferably in diesel engines and generators; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Marine industry experience preferred.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting, developing, and maintaining relationships with marine customer base and be the face of Peterson in the marketplace so Peterson’s reputation is maintained and enhanced through excellent customer service.
  • Maintain in depth working knowledge of Marine vessels including ability to accurately quote complex major engine overhauls on Caterpillar 3500 and lower engine models.
  • Visit job sites collaborate with customers acting as a consultant to help them solve problems and succeed in their business.
  • Build and maintain relationships with assigned marine customers at all key levels within the customer’s organization.
  • Solve customer product support problems by applying mechanical and electrical principles to customer challenges by finding the appropriate solutions using innovative solutions when appropriate.
  • Quote product support goods and services to marine market customer using the Product Support Quoter tool (PSQ).
  • Follow up on all quotes and customer inquiries to assure customer needs are met and exceeded.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly to customer product support news and developments.
  • Communicate clearly on quotes, emails and verbally accurate work schedules, delivery times, terms and conditions, technical data, etc. so customers understand facts and what Peterson promises to do.
  • Work to eliminate misinformation and misunderstanding of what we promise.
  • Enter all sales quotes into Parts and Service Quoter so quote activity is recorded and tracked.
  • Enter daily customer contact activity into CRM system to demonstrate customer interaction.
  • Enter Opportunity updates in Saleslink to keep current product support quotes which helps provide an accurate forecast of future work.
  • Maintain and submit necessary documentation and reports in a timely and complete manner, such as quotes, expense report, vehicle mileage, etc.
  • Communicate, cooperate and work closely with other sales reps, project managers, marketing dept., and managers.
  • Provide regular forecast updates as needed by management to determine quarterly and annual sales activity.
  • Pay close attention to issues of safety, reliability, economy and environmental impact.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Continually gather information on competition and prevalent industry business climate, assist with market research to determine industry trends and new opportunities.
  • Attend local marine industry events such as society of port engineers’ meetings and attend periodic national factory and industry events and meetings.
  • Invest time to increase knowledge of Caterpillar and Peterson product and product support offerings via Cat DPC and other training resources.
  • Seek out, identify and promote cost improvements.
  • Promote and communicate financial solution products and use available resources.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
