About The Position

SMS Equipment is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Product Support Representative to support and grow our customer base in the Alaska region. In this role, you will promote OEM and aftermarket products, parts, and service solutions while building strong, lasting relationships with equipment owners and operators. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong sales orientation, industry knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer support. Work Location: Anchorage, AK. Salary: $75,000 annually plus commission, with a first-year earnings guarantee of $100,000 (base salary + guaranteed commission). Work arrangement: Fixed on site – working 5 days per week from the office or on the road. This role requires frequent travel within your assigned territory.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of heavy equipment, including parts, components, and machine applications.
  • Experience working with large equipment and familiarity with OEM and aftermarket product offerings
  • Strong customer service and relationship‑building abilities with both customers and manufacturers
  • Ability to solve technical problems and provide customer‑focused product support solutions
  • Proficiency with computer systems and CRM tools; strong accuracy in documentation and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills and sound judgment, initiative, and dependability in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ambition and willingness to proactively learn new technologies, product knowledge, and best practices
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned territory

Responsibilities

  • Grow parts and service revenue across your assigned territory by supporting existing customers and developing new business opportunities.
  • Follow the full company sales process with a strong focus on meeting sales targets.
  • Develop annual territory sales plans and complete related activities within required timelines.
  • Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and branch personnel.
  • Gather business intelligence such as machine population, competitor information, buying patterns, maintenance needs, and conversion opportunities, and enter details into CRM systems.
  • Conduct customer visits, including follow-up visits for newly delivered machines within four weeks.
  • Promote Parts and Service programs in coordination with the respective managers.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation including call reports, quotations, and customer contact records.
  • Participate in branch meetings, customer JoiFul meetings, and represent SMS Equipment in relevant industry associations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and develop customer-focused solutions as a value-added partner.
  • Support product improvement by providing field feedback and recommendations.
  • Assist with on-site inventory management to ensure product availability.
