About The Position

Product Software Engineer The Opportunity: At Booz Allen Hamilton we are pushing the boundaries of innovation through our emerging product business. We are seeking a Senior Software and AI Engineer to join our internal product engineering team on a transformative AI-driven cybersecurity product. This product automates critical cybersecurity workflows that traditionally require months of manual effort by expert security teams — leveraging agentic AI to analyze complex security environments, identify threats, and generate actionable defensive content at unprecedented scale. You'll be building the intelligent systems that make this possible. This role is for a senior engineer who thrives at the intersection of AI, cybersecurity, and cloud-native development — someone who can design and deliver autonomous, intelligent workflows that turn security data into real defensive capability. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers, product managers, and cybersecurity domain experts to build a scalable, high-impact solution that empowers our clients and sets new standards in the industry. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including product development in a commercially focused environment
  • Experience with Python for backend development in production systems
  • Experience building serverless or cloud-native applications on AWS, such as Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, or API Gateway
  • Experience with AI/LLM integration, including prompt engineering, agentic workflows, or AI-powered automation such as Amazon Bedrock or OpenAI
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks, such as React, for building data-rich web applications
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including AWS SAM, CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK
  • Experience delivering AI-driven products using Agile methodologies and managing the product lifecycle
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and event-driven architectures
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in software engineering, or 7+ years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience building and operating production-grade full-stack applications in cloud environments
  • Experience in cybersecurity, detection engineering, threat intelligence, or security operations
  • Experience with security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST 800-53, or SOC 2
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, such as Splunk, Elastic, Microsoft Sentinel, or LogRhythm, or security tool integrations
  • Experience with Amazon Bedrock and Anthropic Claude models
  • Experience with multi-tenant product development and profile-based data isolation patterns
  • Experience with GitHub or GitLab API integrations and CI/CD pipeline development
  • Experience with specification-driven development, formal traceability, and compliance-oriented engineering practices
  • Experience creating novel solutions or IP that have driven measurable market impact
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI-powered analysis capabilities using large language models for automated security analysis, threat attribution, and defensive content generation
  • Build and extend agentic AI workflows that orchestrate multi-stage analysis pipelines — from data ingestion through intelligent processing, quality review, and output delivery
  • Develop and maintain serverless backend services, such as Python, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, or Step Functions, following specification-driven development practices
  • Contribute to the React frontend including interactive dashboards, data management interfaces, and integration configuration experiences
  • Build and enhance API adapters and connectors for enterprise security tools and version control platforms
  • Implement human-in-the-loop feedback systems that learn from expert modifications to continuously improve AI-generated outputs
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and cybersecurity domain experts to translate complex security requirements into scalable, production-ready features
  • Work with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
