About The Position

The Product Security Engineer II at Medtronic is a key role within the Software Cybersecurity Organization, focusing on ensuring the security of connected medical devices. This position involves leading security monitoring efforts, facilitating risk management, and integrating security into the product development lifecycle. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to instill a security mindset and contribute to the overall cybersecurity strategy for Medtronic's medical devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field and 2+ years of cybersecurity experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience with embedded security, mobile application security, or cloud security.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication systems and PKI key management system design.
  • Experience in penetration or Red Team testing of IoT devices or mobile applications.
  • Prior cybersecurity design or testing experience in critical industries such as Medical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Defense.
  • Programming skills in C, C++, Python, or Flutter.
  • Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Threat modeling experience (STRIDE).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with embedded security, mobile application security, or cloud security.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication systems.
  • PKI key management system design experience.
  • Penetration or Red Team testing experience.
  • Security incident management experience.
  • Prior experience in critical industries such as Medical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate technical teams in threat modeling, security risk evaluations, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Collaborate with product R&D teams to build security awareness and implement specific security controls.
  • Support integration of security into the product development lifecycle from design to deployment.
  • Contribute to security testing activities, including vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and code reviews.
  • Assist in maintaining and implementing security standards, policies, and procedures for medical device systems.
  • Perform emerging threat and vulnerability research and analysis.
  • Evaluate third-party vendors and suppliers for their security practices.
  • Support the effective response to security incidents.
