About The Position

The Corteva Agriscience Product Science and Technology (PS&T) group has an immediate opportunity for a Product Development Scientist or Engineer who demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing agricultural solutions and product innovation for growers worldwide. The chosen individual will become an integral member of the Product Science and Technology team at the R&D center and global headquarters in Indianapolis, IN. This role is instrumental in supporting the development and commercialization of new formulated products by examining how formulation, delivery, and application parameters affect the overall end-user experience for crop protection and biological offerings. Key responsibilities include developing novel formulations, designing robust experiments to enhance activity and delivery profiles, and assessing product usage and application methods in priority markets. The position also involves establishing new methodologies to evaluate how application properties influence product efficacy. The successful candidate will analyze how critical physical properties affect product performance, application, storage, and handling, and will acquire practical knowledge of various types of application equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong project management abilities, and comprehensive understanding of agricultural practices are essential. This multidisciplinary position requires leadership in both conceptual design and experimental validation of new technologies, working collaboratively with project managers, marketing professionals, regulatory scientists, field development representatives, supply chain specialists, biologists, formulation chemists, and engineers.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Weed Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology, or a related discipline, with 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in formulation development.
  • Proficiency with agricultural application equipment and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural operations, products, and delivery systems.
  • Results-driven, independent work ethic, and excellent project management, planning, prioritization, and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Outstanding documentation and communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of original research contributions, including intellectual property development and publication/presentation of technical papers in scientific journals and at professional symposia.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes experimental designs to optimize the physical, chemical, and activity/delivery profiles of products under development.
  • Collaborates closely with formulation scientists, analytical teams, greenhouse biologists, and field R&D experts to advance capabilities that investigate the impact of application properties on efficacy.
  • Applies agricultural expertise to interpret greenhouse and field data effectively, guiding research in application and formulation.
  • Utilizes background in agricultural, physical, and chemical sciences to address challenges related to product delivery, application, storage, and processing.
  • Designs and implements laboratory experiments that replicate real-world applications, evaluates associated risks, and formulates mitigation strategies.
  • Engages with marketing, field biology, industry partners, equipment manufacturers, and academic consultants to remain informed on industry trends and develop strategic approaches to regional application technologies and product delivery/storage.
