About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking a General Mechanic to support the P8 aircraft at Boeing's newest state-of-the-art facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Position Responsibilities: Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure and systems in accordance with standard repair processes. Perform component installations, ceiling, sidewall panels, flight controls and other hydraulic components. Demonstrates the capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair. Use of tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests. Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work. The candidate must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, and work in confined spaces. Must be able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Meet specific military and technical standards focused on precision and safety Responsible for maintaining life-saving gear, including parachutes, life rafts, and oxygen systems Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair parachutes, seat pans, and survival equipment. Manage shop and survival equipment work centers. Maintain precise electronic and physical records of all maintenance. Manufacture, Fabricate, or Repair items as requested Blueprint Interpretation: Follow detailed verbal and written instructions and read and interpret moderately complex blueprint drawings and specifications to set up and machine items for fabricating out-of-sequence emergent production parts and fillers using manual Collaboration: Assist others in completing job responsibilities, fostering a collaborative work environment Machining Tasks: Perform fabrication tasks with a focus on quality and efficiency Complexity Management: Work on articles of limited complexity while adhering to established drawings and requirement Certification Maintenance: Maintain all necessary certifications to perform job functions effectively and safely

Requirements

  • Completion of Navy "A" school, or FAA Rigger Certification is required
  • 4+ years of experience with Aviation Life Support Equipment
  • 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Willing and able to work a variable shift (2nd shift) and weekends
