About The Position

The Production Quality Leader’s (PQL) primary function is to support the Production Manager/Shift Supervisor in successfully achieving both production and company objectives including safety, product quality, continual improvement, and cleanliness (3S). The PQL is also responsible for setting the standard while assuring that the production team members working in the assigned cell are adhering to standardized work while complying with all company rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years progressive manufacturing/supervisory or leadership experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, E-mail
  • Initiative-taking and flexible.
  • Good observation skills to identify changes or deviations in the production process.
  • Strong work ethic and attendance record.
  • General knowledge and experience with manufacturing operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer skills and knowledge of Plex system preferred. On the job training is available.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and customer requirements is preferred. On the job training is available.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership for assigned production cell safety, output efficiency, quality, adherence to standardized work (SWI) and workplace organization (3S).
  • Train new and current associates to company/job standards including but not limited to safety, SWI, quality, efficiency, and cleanliness. Maintain a positive attitude and training environment for all current and new associates.
  • Support problem solving activities and continual improvement themes to advance company performance and team member development.
  • Monitor performance metrics and participate in improvement activities to achieve company or customer targets. Submit daily reports on cell performance as dictated by the production manager.
  • Complete first piece inspection and layered audits daily of production items in line with the frequency determined by the SWI or Reaction Policies to ensure that products are manufactured and labeled to company and customer standards, with the mindset of “Customer First” and “Zero Defects”.
  • Confirm each process to the standard work (SWI, 906 cycle) at least 2 times per shift; increasing frequency as needed for quality alerts, associate training, process changes, etc.
  • Co-ordinate resources for assigned cell as directed by the Supervisor considering skill levels, break requirements and mold changes.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to feedback from the shipping or quality departments to meet on-time shipment requirements with products of the required quality.
  • Continual development of team members based on audits/feedback from others and or witnessed non-compliance.
  • Assure production operators are documenting scrap and clearly identifying issues. Communicate those issues to the Manager/Supervisor and the Processing Staff as necessary and appropriate.
  • Coordinate rework of suspect product with team members and the supervisor as applicable and documented in a authorized Re-work Instruction.
  • Attend daily shift meeting and lead the meeting when required.
  • Other responsibilities as designated by the Shift Manager / Supervisor.
