About The Position

We’re looking for a Product, Privacy and Data Protection Counsel to join our Legal team. In this role, you’ll be working as a motivated attorney who enjoys solving complex problems to join our Legal & Compliance team. In this role, you will work closely with Real’s product and engineering teams to provide legal guidance on a wide range of legal issues, including privacy and data security, related to the product development lifecycle. This role is responsible for helping to navigate rules regarding a fintech company, which has broad market impact through an evolving and complex financial legal and regulatory environment. Our team’s work enables our internal partners to build and refine our technology initiatives with a focus on speed and quality execution. The position is fully remote.

Requirements

• Knowledge and application of consumer protection laws and regulations such as RESPA, UDAAP, and GLBA.
• A willingness to dig-in and learn new technology is critical. This role requires digital fluency or – at a minimum – a willingness to learn.
• 7+ years experience in a product counsel role at a law firm or in-house legal department
• Experience in a law firm or in-house corporate environment working specifically on regulatory compliance.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Counsel our Product, Marketing and business teams throughout the product lifecycle on applicable legal and regulatory requirements and risks.
• Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks, and propose creative and effective solutions to mitigate these risks with a business-focused mindset.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements in support of the business and its initiatives.
• Remain up-to-date on relevant industry and consumer protection laws and regulations.
• Partner with the Marketing and go to market teams to ensure compliance of all consumer facing materials.
• Partner with the broader Legal & Compliance team in various other corporate and enterprise initiatives as such opportunities arise.
