Product Owner

PropertyPilotManasquan, NJ

About The Position

PropertyPilot is an early-stage, AI-powered real estate platform that aggregates 170+ million tax and parcel records nationwide—ownership data, property assessments, comparable sales, mortgage information, and foreclosure filings—into a single, mobile-first experience. Real estate is the largest asset class in the U.S. at over $85 trillion yet remains one of the least efficient. We’re changing that. Backed by an experienced SaaS founder and a seasoned product, engineering, and design team, we’re building the tools that bring transparency and speed to real estate professionals, banks, insurers, and builders. We are operating before product-market fit—growth at PropertyPilot is about getting the right users in the door, learning from real usage, and iterating quickly. The Role This is a foundational hire. PropertyPilot needs someone who can own the full spectrum of product ownership—roadmap strategy, PRD authorship, backlog authority, analytics-driven prioritization, and stakeholder alignment—as a team of one. You won’t be managing a product department; you’ll be building one from the ground up while keeping the day-to-day running smoothly. At a startup, the person in this seat touches everything. You’ll write a PRD on Monday, lead backlog refinement on Tuesday, stress-test acceptance criteria with Claude on Wednesday, review Mixpanel dashboards on Thursday, and make the go/no-go call on a production release on Friday. If you need a tidy org chart and narrowly defined swim lanes to be effective, this isn’t the role. If you thrive when you’re the person holding it all together, keep reading. In PropertyPilot’s AI-driven SDLC, you’ll leverage Claude to accelerate PRD drafting, user story generation, acceptance criteria refinement, and competitive analysis—while maintaining human judgment on every prioritization and go/no-go decision. You’ll also build and maintain a Product Analyst Agent—a Claude-powered digital counterpart that handles routine analytical and generative product work—so you can focus on strategy, stakeholder alignment, and decision-making.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Demonstrated experience writing PRDs or comparable requirements documents that drive engineering execution.
  • Proficiency with Linear (or similar issue tracking) for backlog management, cycle planning, and project tracking.
  • Hands-on experience with product analytics platforms (Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)—defining events, building dashboards, interpreting funnel and retention data to drive product decisions.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) to accelerate product work—PRD drafting, user research synthesis, competitive analysis, or acceptance criteria generation.
  • Interest in and aptitude for building AI agents/assistants—designing prompts, curating context, configuring tool integrations, and iteratively improving agent performance.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum ceremonies, backlog refinement, and Definition of Ready enforcement.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into actionable engineering work.
  • Experience with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) for tracking user acquisition and engagement pipelines.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to define measurable success metrics and make data-informed priority decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real estate technology, proptech, or marketplace platforms.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with Stripe Dashboard or subscription/credit-based monetization models.
  • Experience with Gamma AI or similar tools for stakeholder presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap and phase sequencing (Phase 1 through Phase 9) as defined in the PropertyPilot SDLC Playbook.
  • Author PRDs for every project using the mandatory 9-section template; leverage Claude AI to draft initial sections, generate user stories, and stress-test acceptance criteria for completeness.
  • Ensure the PRD Approved stage gate passes before any issues are created—coordinate the 3-person sign-off (PO + Lead Engineer + Designer) with zero open questions remaining.
  • Write user stories in standard format (As a [role], I want [action], so that [benefit]) with specific, testable acceptance criteria; use Claude to identify edge cases, error states, and negative scenarios.
  • Lead Pass 1 Refinement sessions (2 sprints ahead) with the Designer and Lead Engineer to draft issues, write acceptance criteria, and start design work.
  • Make scope and priority trade-off decisions within each sprint; shield the team from mid-sprint scope changes.
  • Define, monitor, and act on product KPIs using Mixpanel—track engagement funnels, search behavior, feature adoption, credit consumption, and monetization conversion rates to inform backlog priorities.
  • Maintain Mixpanel dashboards for sprint reviews and stakeholder updates; use analytics data to validate acceptance of shipped features and measure success metrics defined in PRDs.
  • Conduct final acceptance testing in staging for user-facing features; make the go/no-go decision for production deployment.
  • Accept or reject completed work during sprint review against documented acceptance criteria.
  • Collect and document customer feedback through support channels, Mixpanel analytics, and direct outreach; feed ideas back to Stage 1 (Idea Intake).
  • Manage the HubSpot CRM pipeline for investor user acquisition and onboarding tracking; coordinate with Clay-enriched operator profiles for Hudson County GTM outreach.
  • Use Claude to synthesize customer feedback, analyze Mixpanel usage patterns, draft release notes, and generate stakeholder communications; use Gamma AI for investor and stakeholder presentations.
  • Define project-level Definition of Done with the Lead Engineer for each Linear Project.
  • Create and maintain Linear Project shells with Phase labels, one-paragraph summaries, and dependency documentation; maintain PRDs and product documentation in Notion.
  • Monitor Stripe Dashboard for subscription tier performance, credit pack purchase trends, and revenue metrics to inform pricing and packaging decisions.

Benefits

  • Massive market, real problem. The U.S. real estate data ecosystem is fragmented and outdated. We’re building the infrastructure layer to fix it.
  • Early-stage impact. Your work will directly shape the product, the roadmap, and the company’s trajectory.
  • Strong foundation. Experienced SaaS founder, proven team, and a clear product vision—not a science experiment.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
