GENERAL FUNCTION: The Product Owner to join our Agile team to take responsibility for defining Stories, prioritizing the Team Backlog and ensuring the Quality of team deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years working in a business analyst or product owner role, ideally in a mixed environment containing both internally and externally facing products.
  • Team player with proven ability to collaborate with team members, both technical and non technical.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Comfort with SDLC management tools such as Jira or Shortcut.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and act as an agent of change, when appropriate.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to translate highly complex processes for non-technical audiences.
  • Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in GoogleDocs, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand various computer systems.
  • Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the product backlog reflecting value and prioritizing work for the technology team.
  • Work with business and technology leadership to prioritize enhancements and releases.
  • Distill annual and quarterly roadmaps into requirements and then prioritized sprints with the help of engineering and data science.
  • Communicate and evangelize product strategy to peers in technology.
  • Work with partners in sales, operations, technology, marketing and data analytics to define, build and launch platform features.
  • Provide quality assurance (QA) review and feature acceptance of platform deliverables on behalf of the business.
  • Manage an enhancement request process to identify work of high business value.
  • Convey the goals and product requirements for enhancements and new development in the form of user stories.
  • Represents the business to the technology team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
