About The Position

Business Unit: Product Metallurgy We solve problems at all levels of the supply chain including customer issues of material in the field, customer issues with material received, production issues at Carpenter, raw material issues and incoming quality. Ongoing Projects Review claims, perform root cause corrective action, develop new products via product enhancements modified within existing portfolio, resolve production issues, ensure routings and test plans are accurate and satisfy purchase order requirements, work with major aerospace customers for critical parts. You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks: Assist in product enhancement S7 work and material investigations including analysis of defects, test failures, statistical process control, etc. This position will allow you to develop and build expertise in the following core skills: Adaptability - You will track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success, while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Problem Solving - Develop your critical thinking and analytical skills to assess safety in the manufacturing environment, recommend solutions or next steps, and identify best practices to achieve the value of ZERO injuries. Active Learner - Ability and appetite to learn quickly is critical as you expand your knowledge and build your skill sets. Communication - Create effective verbal and written communications in and across project teams. Organize and present results to small and large audiences throughout the organization. Collaboration - You will work closely with multiple departments and teams on the manufacturing floor, requiring strong partnership skills.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Materials Science Engineering
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Willing and able to work on-site at our Reading, PA location.
  • Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.

  • Candidates should have experience with data analysis; metallurgy fundamentals, crystalline structures; mechanical or characterization lab at university
