Division Specific Information: The Digital Science and Automation Solution (DSAS) business designs, develops, supplies, and supports industry leading laboratory workflow solutions and robotic automation, predominantly for the Pharma, Biopharma and the Genetic testing space. These solutions enable our customers to advance science, accelerate discovery and improve outcomes. Our offerings shape the lab of the future, by accelerating innovation, automation, AI-enablement and discovery. In short, it's our goal to make labs work the way people think they do, with connected, instantaneous information, available seamlessly to scientists across the lab. Position Specific Information: Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an accomplished, strategic-minded Product Marketing Director (PMD) to accelerate our leadership in the digitally automated laboratory space. This individual will unify strategic customer engagement, technical and product innovation to transform markets goals into scalable, repeatable digital lab solutions. In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive the DSAS strategy in close collaboration with multiple Thermo Fisher business units, including the Analytical Instruments Group (AIG), Specialty Diagnostics Group (SDG), Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LDA Sector), and other divisions. You will lead cross-functional initiatives that connect sales, technical sales, professional services, customer support, product management, and marketing to define strategy for the laboratory of the future.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Business Growth Drive the vision and Strategic Plan ( STRAP ) process by defining long-term strategic market focuses, portfolio recommendations with Product Managers and go-to-market approach with Sales over a five-year horizon. Ensure proper alignment of the strategy with business goals , market trends and customer’s needs by conducting segmentation based on application, customer type, geography and quantifying Total Addressable Market and Serviceable Addressable Market ( TAM and SAM ) Lead market research, competitive intelligence , and customer insights to identify emerging opportunities and determine market size, drivers and barriers. Develop and implement Annual Operating Plan ( AOP ) commitments and ensure long-term profitable segment growth. Orchestrate strategic customer engagements (e.g. Voice of Customer – VoC ) with input from Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) across Lab Automation, Digital Science, and other divisions. Build and articulate business cases , opportunity assessment and value propositions that highlight the benefits of connected physical and data workflows including AI-enabled capabilities. Provide data-driven recommendations to inform Go/No-GO decisions and prioritize initiatives based on impact and strategic value. Drive strategic and technical collaboration between DSAS and third-party partners to leverage best-in class technologies aligned with overall DSAS strategy. Champion a growth mindset and support organizational change initiatives by guiding teams through strategic transitions and promoting data-driven decision-making. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and professional growth, promoting high performance and cross-functional collaboration. Identify risks that may impact strategy execution and develop mitigation plans to ensure business continuity and success.
  • Product and Go-To-Market Enablement Serve as the customer-facing extension of Product Management by synthesizing market requirements into actionable software development priorities. Influence the DSAS product roadmap through alignment of customer insights with LDA sector and broader Thermo Fisher digital strategy. Translate customer insights (VoC) into clear product requirements and formalize them in the Market Requirement Document ( MRD ) as per Thermo Fisher process. Understand and apply the DSAS New Product Introduction (NPDI) process as per gate’s objectives owned by PMM. Partner with Product Management to convert customer needs into engineering-ready user stories and solution blueprints, accelerating handoff to R&D for COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) products (SDLC). Partner with Solution team to speed innovation. Drive Go-To-Market readiness through sales enablement, onboarding programs, and creation of commercial tools (playbooks, pitch decks, battlecards. Partner with marketing to build proper marketing campaigns that support product launches and commercial acceleration. Deliver sales training and ensure commercial teams are equipped for effective customer engagement including competitive updates, use-case insights, and market guidance. Monitor adoption, customer feedback , and commercial performance to refine strategies.
  • Consulting Strategy and Practice leadership Develop a“ Automated Digital Lab Solution” Consulting Strategy that accelerates customer transformation including digital lab assessments, workflow redesign, automation feasibility and integration planning. Develop and scale the Lab Transformation Consulting practice, delivering value analyses, maturity assessments, and digital transformation roadmaps. Establish standardized consulting methodologies, frameworks, and best practices for digital lab engagements. Mentor a multi-disciplinary consulting team (consultants, solution architects, workflow specialists, project managers). Develop internal knowledge assets including playbooks, templates, case studies, and reusable tools. Collaborate with Technical Sales, Services & Support, and Customer Support to co-develop integrated solution proposals and architectures. Ensure strong win rates and successful project delivery across consulting engagement
