The Enterprise Data and AI organization unites the data governance, strategy, engineering, and product teams with those responsible for AI engineering, generative AI enablement, and automation product and engineering. This group plays a pivotal role in leveraging data as a core driver of innovation and integrating AI capabilities to transform products, operations, and customer experiences. The EDAI organization also incorporates technology Research & Development and experimentation with emerging capabilities, along with engineering support for Amex Digital Labs. This integration ensures that research breakthroughs seamlessly translate into business impact. About the team: We're a hands-on team of engineers, product leaders, and researchers. We drive research and experimentation in frontier technologies, foster ecosystem partnerships from our Palo Alto hub, and power the next generation of American Express products and experiences. About the role: You'll explore and shape emerging ideas through research, rapid prototyping, and strategic collaboration. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic, fast-evolving environments and loves turning bold, early-stage concepts into meaningful, real-world impact.

Requirements

  • BA/BS, Master's or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5-8+ years of hands-on experience in product management or product design.
  • Deep understanding AI stack and product cycle.
  • Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous, early-stage environments, turning raw ideas into viable products and businesses from the ground up.
  • Demonstrated success in sourcing and managing external partnerships related to early-stage technologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to engage effectively with executives and engineers across diverse technical backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior 0-to-1 experience building or launching AI-driven products.
  • Startup experience combined with an appreciation for the complexities and nuances of operating within a large, global organization.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Amex's strategic and competitive position.
  • Identify, assess, and synthesize new AI product ideas.
  • Lead hands-on evaluations to refine opportunities from both technical and business perspectives. This may involve generating business concepts, conducting customer interviews, and mostly partnering with engineering teams to develop prototypes, and testing solutions.
  • Establish a shared vision across the company by building alignment on priorities that drive product execution. You'll play an instrumental role in communicating business ideas, helping colleagues understand their potential, and guiding products toward launch.
  • Drive the product from concept to the pilot phase and support larger deployments.
