Product Manager Principal - AI Transformation Incubator

Capital GroupLos Angeles, CA

About The Position

Capital Group aspires to be a leader among global asset managers in the adoption of AI to drive productivity and innovation. Over the past two years, our AI investments have demonstrated clear enterprise value, and the emergence of Agentic AI marks a significant inflection point for the firm. The AI Transformation Incubator is a central innovation engine designed to identify, pilot, and scale a revolving portfolio of 3–4 high-impact, enterprise initiatives that reimagine end-to-end processes using advanced AI capabilities. As a Principal Product Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering these transformations—partnering deeply with business leaders, technologists, and risk partners to turn AI potential into measurable outcomes. This role combines strategic product leadership, hands-on execution, and exceptional stakeholder influence in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, including ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • A proven ability to think strategically and execute tactically, often switching between the two multiple times per day
  • Demonstrated success delivering products or platforms in highly ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Strong AI fluency—you don’t need to build models, but you understand how modern AI systems work and how to productize them
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a track record of influencing without authority and building trust across senior stakeholders
  • Comfort navigating risk, governance, and control considerations in regulated or complex environments
  • A reputation as a thoughtful, credible product leader and partner
  • Experience mentoring others and raising the quality of product practice around you

Responsibilities

  • Shape a clear product vision and strategy for each incubated initiative, from problem definition through pilot and scale
  • Balance central leverage and local ownership within Capital Group’s hub-and-spoke operating model
  • Establish success metrics tied to realized business value, not just technical delivery
  • Dive deep on a single high-impact AI initiative, managing discovery, experimentation, MVP delivery, and scale-out
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into well-scoped product hypotheses, roadmaps, and backlogs
  • Work closely with engineering, data science, UX, architecture, and risk partners to deliver solutions rapidly and responsibly
  • Make pragmatic tradeoffs across scope, speed, risk, and value—while maintaining momentum
  • Apply strong working knowledge of modern AI concepts (e.g., LLMs, agentic workflows, retrieval, orchestration, evaluation, and monitoring) to product decisions
  • Ensure solutions are designed with responsible AI, governance, and control considerations embedded from the start
  • Help codify reusable patterns, playbooks, and learnings to scale AI capabilities across Capital Group
  • Act as a trusted product partner to business, technology, information security and legal/compliance leaders
  • Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholders with differing incentives and levels of AI maturity
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively—whether in executive forums, working sessions, or written artifacts
  • Mentor other product managers and help raise the overall bar for product thinking within the AI domain

Benefits

  • competitive salary
  • bonuses and benefits
  • company-funded retirement contribution
  • generous time-away and health benefits from day one, with the opportunity for flexible work options
  • 2-for-1 matching gifts for your charitable contributions and the opportunity to secure annual grants for the organizations you love
  • on-demand professional development resources that allow you to hone existing skills and learn new ones
