About The Position

Position Summary... What you'll do... The Internship : The Walmart Automated Pick and Delivery (APD) Internship is an 11-week program held during the summer of 2026. It is open to undergraduate students graduating between December 2026 and August 2027. This paid internship will prepare associates for a career with Walmart APD. Interns will work on meaningful projects, network with industry experts, and develop their skills while having an enriching summer experience. A successful candidate will not require sponsorship from Walmart for authorization to work now or in the future. What is an APD?Automated Pickup & Delivery (APD) centers are Walmart’s next-generation grocery fulfillment facilities that combine automation, robotics, and software to pick, stage, and dispense online grocery orders at scale.APDs integrate Walmart’s internal systems (Warehouse Management System, Execution System, and orchestration layers) with automation vendors and store operations to: Increase daily order throughput per site Improve labor productivity and cost efficiency Deliver faster, more reliable customer pickup experiences These facilities are a critical part of Walmart’s strategy to scale online grocery while maintaining low prices and operational excellence.Role Summary:The APD Product Management Intern (Undergraduate) will support Walmart’s APD product team by contributing to business analysis, product discovery, and performance insights that help improve throughput, labor efficiency, and site scalability.This role is designed for undergraduates who want exposure to product management in complex operational systems, with an emphasis on understanding business tradeoffs rather than just execution mechanics.What You’ll Learn: How automation, software, and labor interact to drive fulfillment economics How product teams evaluate throughput, cost, and scalability tradeoffs How operational data informs product and investment decisions How AI tools accelerate analysis, synthesis, and product documentation

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Computer Science, or related field
  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027
  • 0-2 years of full-time relevant experience
  • Strong analytical curiosity and structured thinking
  • AI-first mindset and experience applying AI tools to business workflows
  • Comfortable working with data (Excel/Sheets required; SQL a plus)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in automation, operations, or product management
  • A successful candidate will not require sponsorship from Walmart for authorization to work now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Support business-oriented product discovery: Assist in framing problem statements tied to throughput, labor efficiency, or reliability
  • Translate operational workflows into high-level system and process views
  • Contribute to performance analysis: Analyze site-level KPIs (orders/day, cycle time, buffer utilization)
  • Identify trends and constraints impacting capacity or productivity
  • Support decision-making artifacts: Create summaries, slides, or one-pagers used in product and ops reviews
  • Help document assumptions, risks, and open questions
  • Use AI-enabled tools to accelerate synthesis, documentation, and insights
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions with product, engineering, and operations teams
