About The Position

Role description: Participate in cross-functional team efforts to improve yield, throughput, capacity, and overall product quality. Identify component test failure trends and perform root cause analysis. Implement corrective actions to resolve. Prepare test failure analysis reports as required for production. Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment and establish programs and solutions for decreasing test equipment downtime and test equipment caused failures. Analyze manufacturing approach, plans, and processes for cost reduction and efficiency. Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs. Identify new manufacturing approaches that will increase operational productivity. Identify and select capital equipment using sound cost/payback analysis. Improve existing fixtures and equipment to improve performance. Responsible for providing technical support for entire production process including assembly, test, and inspection, and support operations in meeting monthly production commitments. Develop complete working knowledge of any assigned test systems and hardware. Provides technical assistance and support to assembly, test, and inspection operators. Provide technical mentorship to other engineers. Interface with design engineering in coordinating design changes required for sustaining production during the resolution of obsolete part, tolerance, and test yield issues. Work with test technicians to train them on products and test systems. Work with troubleshooting technicians to train them in component level troubleshooting. Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Other engineering degrees may be acceptable based on experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer.
  • Experience in component level troubleshooting on complex circuit cards.

  • Proficiency with Lean manufacturing initiatives, root cause analysis, and process improvement.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
  • Basic understanding of statistics and the ability to proactively identify and act upon trends in data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively identify and resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Proven ability to facilitate difficult conversations and communicate easily and concisely with individuals at all organizational levels.
