JOB SUMMARY: The Product Engineer will design, develop, and launch new products for high volume production that meet divisional goals while ensuring compliance to industry standards and customer specific requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
  • One or more years as an engineer involved in the design and development of new products or equivalent experience in related disciplines
  • Understanding of statistical process control, process capability analysis, Design of Experiments, Design for Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodology
  • Technical experience in automotive product development & manufacturing
  • Change management experience
  • Creation/Updating of Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Product Development Process and Timelines
  • PPAP/APQP process
  • MS Office products

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive industry experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Effectively design and develop new products
  • Approve Material Discrepancy Reports, First Piece Approvals, and Internal Deviations
  • Assure customer satisfaction by interfacing between Stoneridge and the Customer or the Key Account Managers and Product Line Management
  • Determine product requirements as specified by the customer or any internal/external standards
  • Create/manage DFMEA documentation including P-Diagrams, Block Diagrams
  • Provide design information to the CAD team for model and drawing creation
  • Plan and record the results of design and development test activities through compliance with DVP&R and Project Timing plans
  • Perform calculations, analysis, and other demonstrations to ensure achievement of product performance requirements
  • Support compliance with APQP standards throughout the development process
  • Submitting test plans and requests to Engineering Test lab to successfully complete testing and validation, in compliance with customer specific requirements
  • Provide for and ensure the assembly, testing, and shipment of prototype samples in accordance with customer requirements
  • Review and approve feasibility and estimate D&D costs of new products through customer relationship management system
  • Initiate change requests and provide final review and approval for the accuracy of changed prints, bills of material, and documents
