This Position reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager In this role, you will play a key part in sustaining product quality, cost efficiency, and production capacity for active products. This position involves close collaboration with R&D and Agile teams to provide technical input, and effective communication with Supply Chain Management and Production teams to ensure seamless operations. You will contribute to new product development by assembling prototypes, testing designs, and supporting the transition from concept to mass production. This role acts as a vital link between design and manufacturing, resolving build issues in real time, coordinating cross-functional efforts, managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Internal Change Management (ICMs), and supporting the shop floor. A proactive approach to risk identification and production scheduling is essential for success in this role. The work model for the role is: Onsite; Richmond, VA This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power Division .

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical / Electronical Engineering (or demonstrate equivalent experience) with managing multiple (change) projects, following process
  • 1 year of experience
  • Experience in 3D modelling skills e.g. Solidworks, Electrical schematic capture e.g. Autocad, Experience in maintaining technical documents, Experience in an ERP, e.g. SAP
  • Attention to detail and good communications, written and verbal
  • Travel - 15%
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and managing engineering changes in active products
  • Monitoring product/assembly cost and developing projects for cost savings
  • Managing technical documents for production (3D, Schematics, BOM, Assembly Procedure)
  • Establishing project specification for production
  • Converting R&D developments into products for market and readying these for mass production
  • Supporting for production lines. Involving problem solving analysis and investigating together with Quality/Process teams
  • Maintaining assembly and packaging instructions
