About The Position

Test Engineer • Test electrical machines or subcomponents and inverter systems • Prepare test articles and test setups including hands-on test article instrumentation and assemblies, fabrication for wiring harnesses, building various fixturing and mobile test equipment. • Handle operation of test cells with dynamometers, variable frequency drives, battery simulators, active/passive loads, oil conditioning units, air and coolant chillers, thermal chambers, NVH chambers and data acquisition systems • Operate and interface microcontrollers including control unit tuning and calibration • Configure data acquisition systems to measure temperature, voltage, current, electrical and mechanical power, speed, torque, vibration, pressure, etc. • Operate equipment such as oscilloscopes, power scopes, power analyzers and integrated DAQ systems • Configure and execute manual and automated tests by following test plans, user guides and safety protocols • Follow test lab operation processes and complete test requests from requesting engineers with support of technicians and facility services in the test setups • Operate and build data post processing tools and generate test reports • Work in small or larger scale lab projects for new or upgraded equipment • Develop test processes and procedures, project engineering and work instructions for engineers and technicians • Design test setups for standard or custom test methods including interaction with fabrication shops and part vendors • Share and present work to multi-functional teams and leadership

Requirements

  • Test Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in test laboratories
  • 1+ years of experience with electric motors and/or inverters
  • 1+ years of experience with power tools and hand tools for building wiring harnesses, fixtures and completing other assemblies and teardowns.
  • 1+ years of experience with dynamometer control systems (examples include but not limited to - ADACs, REPS, AVL systems, Horiba, Siemens, Webasto )
  • 1+ years of experience with data acquisition systems (examples include but not limited to -. ATI, IMC measurement, NI, AVL, Yokogawa)
  • 1+ years of experience with test data post processing and simulation using numerical computational tools (examples include but not limited to - Matlab, Scilab, GNU Octave, Python, Labview
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience with electric machines, motor drives, motor controls and calibration, motor and inverter cooling systems and electromechanical interaction of electric drives
  • 3+ years of experience related to testing motor drive systems including: design verification testing, thermal testing, durability testing and test automation
  • 3+ years of experience in diagnostics/solving problems in test lab environment including work with EMI, power circuit sizing, test alarm systems and automated test sequencing
  • 3+ years of experience with test and measurement equipment such as data acquisition, oscilloscopes, motor controllers, test automation and variable frequency drives
  • Understanding the theory of permanent magnet and induction machines and variable frequency drives
  • Experience with CAN/Ethernet/ASAP3 based communications and related API concepts
  • Familiarity with energy control-power lock out, arc flash and high voltage safety training/practices
  • Ability to build and interpret CAD drawings, wiring diagrams and other schematics
  • Knowledge of ISO test equipment calibration requirements/practices and quality standards
  • Knowledge of 5D and FMEA methods
  • Proficient using software and controllers such as Matlab, Scilab, NI LabVIEW/TestStand, AVL Puma/Lynx, IMC Dataworks, Accurate Technologies ATI Vision, Vector, ETAS INCA, Siemens SCADAS/SIMATICS, MS Visual Studio or Sublime Text or other code editor to build applications
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
