Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a member of a Product Development organization, co-located at the Chicago Assembly Plant (CAP) along with the Operations team. The Electrical / Electronic Hardware PVT Engineer has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the Quality of the Explorer, Lincoln Aviator and Police Interceptor vehicles built at Chicago. - Review incoming warranty claims data on a daily basis, review customer and dealership comments, bin claims into proper binning categories, contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback - Review returned parts for root cause analyses and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions - Support assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analyses and other Quality related tasks - Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches and lead cost reduction actions in current production vehicles. - Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners to address quality concerns. - Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system - Issue engineering Alerts and initiate and/or pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives - Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality - Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents (SAQ, Top 20 concerns) - Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews). Please note this position will have the individual working at the Systems level across two Functions and Variability Reduction Teams, Electrical/Electronic Hardware & Body Interior.

  • Make presentations to various levels of upper management
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in Electrical and Body Interior Engineering
  • Experience with Body Interior components such as Seats, Restraints, Door Trim, and IP & Cockpit
  • Understanding of communication between modules (e.g., CAN communication)
  • Troubleshooting skills as it applies to specific functions that the modules or switches control
