About The Position

Eaton's Power Distribution and Controls Assemblies business within the Electrical Sector is currently seeking Product Engineers to join our team. These positions can be based in one of our manufacturing locations in either Asheville, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Greenwood, SC, or Portland, OR, and will offer relocation assistance. The Product Engineer (often internally referred to as a Custom Order Engineer or COE) is primarily responsible for providing electrical and mechanical design and documentation support for power distribution or control product lines. This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with application engineers and manufacturing associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary for this role is $75,000 a year. This position offers a one-time $6,000 signing bonus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution with a graduation before August 2026.
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8.
  • Minimum of one internship or co-op experience or an equivalent of 3 months of related experience completed at the time of this application.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
  • Electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing Internship/Co-Op experience.
  • Knowledge of power distribution products (LV and MV Switchgear, Panelboards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, etc.).
  • Experience with PLC or relay programming.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Project Management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
  • Develop a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
  • Advise Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing in interpreting information for accurate production.
  • Manage purchaser onsite visits to approve and/or release equipment for shipping.
  • Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills with ability to learn required software.
  • Consult with Quality in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped.
  • Conduct special development/application projects of a complex nature.
  • Inform cost and cycle time improvement activities.
  • Conduct technical training guidance and seminars as required.
  • Analyze needs and recommend revisions to Department Policies and Procedures.
