About The Position

The Product Engineer Crash & Safety role at Altair Productdesign, Inc. focuses on the development and optimization of vehicle body structures, chassis, and occupant restraint systems. The position involves utilizing CAE simulation and physical testing to ensure compliance with various regulatory standards and improve safety features in vehicles, particularly in the context of electric vehicles. The engineer will be responsible for documenting the entire engineering process from initial planning to final delivery, while also performing structural assessments for regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 12 months of experience in a Product Engineer or CAE Analyst position.
• Experience with crash safety internal requirements for high voltage components and thermal management systems for electric vehicles.
• Experience with full vehicle barrier tests and subsystem component tests.
• Experience in physical testing and development, RCM calibration, CAE analysis, and structural tests.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification in DMAIC sub-methodology.

Responsibilities

• Develop body structure, chassis, fuel or electrical, and occupant restraint systems using CAE simulation or physical tests.
• Use analysis tools to guide component and system design through optimization to meet regulatory requirements.
• Develop new analytical and physical verification procedures to reduce physical testing and improve CAE model accuracy.
• Apply principles related to vehicle component and occupant kinematics in various crash test modes.
• Document work plans and deliverables from project kick-off to final engineering, including design and testing timelines.
• Perform structural assessments for US regulatory and third-party requirements, including high voltage components.
