About The Position

Location: Raleigh, NC (Onsite 5 days/week) Predictant is an innovative start up focused on using AI to accurately measure tension in large industrial bolts (currently focused on the Wind Turbine industry). Using our patented method, and patent pending hardware, coupled with advanced AI models, Predictant reduces the maintenance and inspection time on large structures by up to 90% vs. traditional methods. Predictant has recently obtained critical Wind Energy certifications and is now demonstrating the technology to a select list of industry leading OEMs and maintenance companies while preparing for rapid growth next year. Predictant is part of the Invica Group, a London-based company that supports a worldwide portfolio of companies focused on sustainability. Primary Purpose Product Engineer 1 will develop software to communicate with product hardware and to support research data gathering and experimentation. Product Engineer 1 will use PC based or embedded tools to develop software primarily to communicate through various peripherals/protocols to the hardware. This candidate will bring the software and electronics background needed to help realize new product designs and achieve the product offerings on the Predictant roadmap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
  • 0-2 years’ minimum experience in software applications and product development
  • Basic understanding of hardware design principles, including schematic design, and part selection.
  • Ability in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C) and peripheral interfaces.
  • Experience with standard lab equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, frequency generators, etc.)
  • Ability to develop software interfaces for hardware control and data acquisition.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with writing test plans & engineering reports.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to demanding environments and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong follow-through skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while representing Predictant.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of Predictant.

Nice To Haves

  • Earlier internships or academic projects showing hardware and software interaction or basic hardware bring-up.
  • Exposure to data analysis techniques, signal processing fundamentals, or machine learning concepts
  • Familiarity with design and simulation tools for hardware design or mechanical layout (e.g., schematic capture, PCB layout, or basic mechanical CAD).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to design, develop, and test hardware products.
  • Participate in product development and production automation, ensuring adherence to timelines, procedures and quality standards.
  • Utilize programming skills to develop and keep software interfaces for hardware components and control systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of software functionality and hardware components.
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware and software issues.
  • Utilize standard lab equipment for prototyping, testing, measurement, and analysis.
  • Aid in improving product documentation, including technical reports, test results, and specifications.
  • Additional duties assigned by supervisor.
