On the job/cross training opportunities Encouraging and collaborative team environment Dedication to safety through our Zero Harm policy What you will do: As a Program Manager I, you will lead new product development programs through Johnson Controls’ stage‑gate development process for the Chiller Product Business Unit. This role is responsible for translating technical innovation into executable, cross‑functional programs that deliver products meeting cost, quality, performance, and time‑to‑market objectives. Program Managers in this role play a critical part in bringing new chiller products to market by aligning engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and commercial stakeholders around a shared execution plan. This position operates with moderate supervision and is ideal for a developing program leader who is building depth in structured product development, cross‑functional leadership, and disciplined execution. This role will be based in the Johnson Controls Advanced Development Engineering Center (JADEC) in New Freedom, PA. How you will do it:

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project or program management and/or leading technical teams in a functional or matrixed environment
  • Experience creating and managing schedules, assigning tasks, facilitating project meetings, and developing resource plans
  • Experience leading or coordinating onsite and remote project teams across multiple functions
  • Practical experience with project management planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) and the Microsoft O365 software suite
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed to support program execution and stakeholder engagement

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience leading projects through stage-gate or phase-gate product development process
  • Knowledge or direct experience within the HVAC industry
  • Experience using collaboration platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams) and work management platforms (e.g. Daptiv, Planview, Smartsheet, Wrike)

Responsibilities

  • Program Execution & Delivery Lead new product development programs through Johnson Controls’ stage gate development process, ensuring timely and disciplined progression through phase milestones.
  • Initiate, plan, and execute programs to deliver approved scope within established targets for budget, quality, performance, and schedule.
  • Lead scope discovery and decomposition to develop detailed execution plans, schedules, and resource forecasts.
  • Identify and actively manage project dependencies and critical paths.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership Lead and align cross functional and geographically distributed teams, including core, extended, and support team members, contractors, and consultants.
  • Drive accountability, engagement, and execution across team members without direct authority.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to take ownership of assigned work and deliver results.
  • Risk, Issue, and Stakeholder Management Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate program risks and issues, escalating as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with functional managers, other program managers, and leadership to resolve tradeoffs and align priorities.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and decisions clearly and effectively to stakeholders through dashboards, scorecards and management reviews.
