About The Position

Oldcastle Infrastructure delivers innovative solutions to improve water quality and protect the environment. We are seeking a motivated Product Development Intern to support our research and development team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in industrial research and assist in the development of water treatment equipment, from lab-scale models to full-sized prototypes. As an intern, you will work closely with our staff engineers and technicians to conduct experiments, build prototypes, and ensure lab safety and efficiency. This position is expected to start in person around May 2026 and continue through the entire summer term (i.e. May 2026 through August 2026). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, onsite for most internships.

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory practices and safety protocols.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs (with accommodations as needed).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with general tools and building prototypes (from coursework or prior projects) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building full-scale and lab-scale hydraulic models using piping, rigging and fabrication techniques
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses using techniques such as TSS and turbidity analysis.
  • Prepare chemical solutions and samples under guidance from senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental data and observations.
  • Support the calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Participate in team discussions and contribute ideas to improve processes.
