About The Position

As a Product Development Intern at Sargento, you will have the opportunity to learn more about Food Science while working in a supportive and family-oriented environment. You will be involved in executing laboratory and pilot plant experiments, conducting sensory evaluations, and supporting product development initiatives. Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in food science, food process engineering, or a related field, having completed junior year prior to the start of the internship.
• Pursuing a master's degree in food science with at least the first year of coursework completed.
• Ability to effectively present information to peers and colleagues.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
• Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle required.

Responsibilities

• Execute laboratory and pilot plant experiments to support product development using established procedures.
• Lead and conduct sensory evaluations, including Descriptive, Discrimination, and Acceptability testing.
• Perform a variety of routine scientific tasks to gain experience in technical and functional areas.
• Learn methods to improve food quality, including flavor, color, texture, and nutritional value.
• Study food standards, safety regulations, and good manufacturing practices to ensure compliance.
• Evaluate food products, processes, and packaging, and develop production methodologies under test conditions.
• Support plant scale-up activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain written technical documentation and product/process specifications.
