Seeking a highly motivated and experienced engineer to manage the design, installation, and application of advanced test systems and fixtures for vehicle Research and Development, with a specific focus on aerodynamic wind tunnel testing. This role is pivotal in optimizing test efficiency and ensuring the seamless operation of the cutting-edge Rolling Road Wind Tunnel. This role requires a meticulous eye for detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality test results and efficient facility operations.

  • Manage the design, installation, and application of test systems and fixtures used in support of vehicle Research and Development testing.
  • Specify, develop, and design the facility utility interfaces for test cell equipment used to support aerodynamic wind tunnel testing.
  • Lead/develop facility sustainment projects and activities.
  • Work in collaboration with customers, test engineers, and support staff to interpret and translate testing needs into accurate design documents.
  • Optimize the design of new systems to maximize test efficiency and minimize energy consumption.
  • Prepare system specifications, project timing plans, and Bill of Materials lists for test cell and facility systems.
  • Program data acquisition and supervisory control system test sequences (automation).
  • Serve as a technical resource for the design, estimating, and scheduling of equipment installation projects.
  • Interact with AE firms, Certified Construction Manager partners and equipment suppliers in the design and implementation of new equipment installation projects.
  • Work with skilled trades, other team members, and technicians during the installation, modification and commissioning of new equipment as well as supporting/maintaining existing facility related equipment.
  • Assure the accurate completion of new or modified systems documentation and drawings.
  • Conduct training and Safety reviews.
  • Interface with safety, environmental quality, and corresponding vendors/suppliers in maintaining building and environmental requirements.
  • Support aerodynamic product development testing activities.
  • Support wind tunnel day to day activities as required (vehicle prep, wind tunnel operation, facility maintenance activities).
  • Test procedure development and release.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior when dealing with customers, leadership, and co-workers.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.

  • Overtime, regular days, off days: Monday through Friday with occasional over time and weekends.
  • Shift, Afternoon: Must be able to support a flexible test schedule into other shifts and/or weekends.
  • Potential to move to another shift based on testing schedule.
  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday (Day Shift: 7a - 330p; Afternoon Shift: 3p - 1130p).
  • Regular, punctual attendance of scheduled hours is required.
