Product Development Engineer

Responsible for the design and development of new products and/or substantially redesigning existing products following industry regulations, cost, and quality guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Participates in every stage of new product development, from ideation to product launch, and tests design concepts and prototypes.
• Works closely with the management team to establish targets for improvements, redesigns, and enhancements to existing products.
• Conducts continuous research on new materials, processes, and procedures to enhance DSC capabilities and efficiencies.
• Establishes budgets and schedules for the development of product improvements.
• Ensures that development progresses according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines.
• Communicates and collaborates in a cross-departmental environment to accomplish seamless transitions between product development stages.
• Completes special studies as needed, including failure analysis of existing products.
• Interfaces with both sales and customers to fulfill needs and resolve issues.

Requirements

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
• Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field.
• Certification is required in some areas.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience from product design and concept through manufacture.
• 1-3 years in increasingly complex problem solving/troubleshooting in a hands-on role.
• Experience working on team or group development projects.
• Project management experience.
• Excellent organizational skills and initiative.
